We recently teamed up with our buddies at Stomp Surf on a 3,000km Desert odyssey, deep into sandy, desolate Namibia. Picking up the campervan in Capetown was a breeze, getting on the freeway even easier! The only real difficult part of the trip was trying to finish our South African pub dinners, which were basically Porterhouse Steaks the size of a large Chinese circus midget...

Etosha National Park is a photographer’s dream. The Park envelopes the Etosha Pan, 4,800km2 of clay and dust that used to be a giant lake ('Etosha' is a term given by the local Ovambo Tribe, meaning ‘great white place’). Consequently, when animals - think elephants, lions, giraffes and rhinos - cross the dusty white pan to access waterholes, they often appear a white, ghost-like colour. And with the lack of vegetation around, they are easily visible from the safety of your 4WD.

The Namib Desert and Skeleton Coast offer an unparalleled sense of remoteness. Across endless plains, sands transition from pristine white to fiery red, untouched by mankind for millennia. This unique region combines scarcity and abundance, inviting exploration. The Namib Desert’s beauty is otherworldly, a landscape unlike any other. Amidst this vastness, the historic German settlements of Swakopmund and Luderitz add a touch of kitsch, enhancing the area’s delightful eccentricity.

The Spitzkoppe, is a group of bald granite peaks located between Usakos and Swakopmund in the Namib desert of Namibia. The granite is more than 120 million years old and the highest outcrop rises about 1,784 metres above sea level. It is one of the most incredible camping grounds on the planet and well worth exploring in your 4WD Camper.

The Aardklop National Arts Festival this year offers an outstanding program with more than 70 productions , including an opera and dance to drama productions by award-winning brand new writers. Popular productions from other parties will also be shown Aardklop such as the award-winning theatrical spatial Bethesda.

Besides being a a fantasticaly amazing mind-blowing party in the middle of the Karoo... AfrikaBurn is primarily an ART festival, creating a temporary community based on radical self-expression and self-reliance in a non-commercial environment. There is nothing for sale - no vendors, no advertising, not even a barter economy. The gift economy is about giving of oneself without expecting anything in return.

The Grahamstown National Arts Festival: Africa's largest and most colourful cultural event offers a choice of the very best of both indigenous and imported talent. Every year for 11 days (June/July) Grahamstown's population almost doubles, as over 50 000 people flock to Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape for a feast of arts, crafts and sheer entertainment. Every hall or large room becomes a theatre, parks and sport fields become flea markets, normally quiet streets have to be managed by an army of temporary traffic wardens, and every available bed in the city is booked. The festival offers more than 500 shows from opera, cabaret, drama and jazz to stand-up comics and folk music.
