Vehicles are currently allowed to travel in Botswana, South Africa and Namibia. Vehicles are also allowed to travel through Swaziland and Lesotho, but we cannot offer roadside assistance in these two countries.

For Namibia there is a R180 Cross Border charge payable at the Namibian border. The receipt is to remain in the vehicle for the duration of the trip through Namibia - for Police Check purposes.

Wicked Campers reserves the right to restrict travel in certain areas due to weather conditions, political circumstances or for any other reasons as deemed fit.

HOURS FOR PICK-UP and DROP-OFF
Times of opening are different for each location. Please let us know if you are wishing to pickup after hours and we will do all that is Wickedly possible to make it happen. There is a charge of R50 per hour for late drop-offs.

Johannesburg Depot: Mon-Fri 9am - 4:30pm & Sat 9am - 2pm

DAMAGE LIABILITY EXCESS
Your Wicked Camper comes with basic damage excess and the amount depends on the type of camper and damage liability you choose.

The excess option you take is the maximum amount that you pay per accident / incident. Please note that if accident is caused by violating terms and conditions of your contract, you will be fully liable for all costs and repairs, as well as future hire loss. An example of this would be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Also driving in excess of speed limits outlined on your contract.

ACCIDENTS
If the rental vehicle is involved in an accident and is not drivable, a replacement vehicle, if available, may be collected from the closest Wicked Camper’s Depot.

If the hirer requires a replacement vehicle to be delivered, then these charges will be payable by the hirer. The Damage Excess does not cover these charges.

The hirer is responsible for the damaged vehicle to be taken to the original rental depot. If the hirer is unable or unwilling to take a replacement vehicle, no refunds for early termination of the contract will apply.

No refund of rental days lost will be considered during the period in which a replacement vehicle is being organised.

Should there be no replacement vehicle available, no refund for lost days will be considered.

Should the hirer continue with a replacement vehicle then a new rental contract and damage liability conditions will apply, including new excess for the new vehicle.

REPAIRS
Wicked Campers must be contacted for authorisation prior to any repairs to the vehicle including tyre damage.

EXCLUSIONS
As a summary the hirer will be fully liable for any damage to the Wicked Camper or third party vehicle and / or property if:

  • The terms of the rental contract are breached
  • Driving in excess of speed limits outlined on your contract.
  • Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, willful or reckless driving
  • Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • Driving on restricted roads / areas. This includes unsuitable roads for your vehicle.
  • Water submersion or salt-water damage is caused
  • No other vehicle, animal or person is involved
  • or where another vehicle, animal or person is involved but sufficient details thereof are not provided

In case of any damage to your Wicked Camper or third party vehicle / property a second excess will be collected to cover any subsequent damage.

Personal injury and belongings are not covered. Nor are incidentals caused by troubles with vehicles, such as accomodation. The client is therefore responsible to obtain his or her own travel insurance.

INFRINGEMENTS
Wicked Campers reserves the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, associated administration costs and / or accidents including third party vehicle / property damage not reported on the return of the vehicle.

CREDIT CARDS
The damage liability excess can be paid by cash or credit card (the amount will be locked on the card and the amount will have to be authorised by the bank). This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date, at the agreed time with no damage incurred to the Wicked Camper or third party vehicle / property.

PASSPORT
A full valid passport is required for all International bookings.

LICENCE
A valid driver's licence is required (must be in English) - It is the drivers responsibility to ensure that he/she carries their drivers licence with them at all times whilst driving.

ROAD RESTRICTIONS
Wicked Campers may be taken into Botswana’s neighbouring states where permission has been given in writing by Wicked Campers, but are not allowed into Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia or Zimbabwe. All damage cover is void if vehicles enter prohibited areas.

Vehicles are allowed to travel on any properly tarred surface. Good smooth sand roads are also permitted. There are areas however that are not suitable for driving with a camper including: the Swartberg Pass (SA), the Sani Pass (SA), Kalahari Gemsbok Park (Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park), the road to the Sentech Towers in Marakele Park (SA), Baviaanskloof Pass (SA), 4x4 trails, the Skeleton Coast Park (Namibia), the short road from Hobas to the Viewpoint (Fish River Canyon), Van Zyl's Pass (Namibia), Sandwich Harbour (Namibia), Kaokoland (Namibia), narrow and steep single lane mountain passes and any road in South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana and Namibia that do not adhere to the condition of roads as mentioned above. We also do not take responsibility from damages arising out of fast speeds and long distance driving on the washboard roads (especially D-roads) in Namibia.

CHANGE OF VEHICLE
Wicked Campers reserves the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle should the requested vehicle not be available due to unforeseen circumstances. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund.
